About Me

I'm Madhurima

Like any other Indian girl my childhood was all about studying, getting good grades which would land me a good enough job and getting married at the age of 24-25 “no later than that”, which ultimately happened.

I remember when I was around 7 years old I used to stand next to my mother when she used to make curries, dal, sabzi and perfect round chapatis/rotis for everyone in the family and my job was to go around with the plate of chapatis to serve everyone at the dining table, that’s how I got introduced to what spices go at what moment while cooking any curry, sabzi etc. I must share this that my mom does not eat onion/garlic and whatever we (me and my brother) used to eat was super tasty that we did not even miss these tadka items in our food. As I grew up I never wanted to go into the kitchen and cook anything, and I remember my mom used to say what will you do after marriage, how will you manage and so on (typical Indian moms).

So, I got married, needless to say (Arranged), moved to US with my husband and realized quite quickly that Indian restaurants in US are not authentic Indian, they are Americanized Indian (which I personally did not like) and I decided that if I want to eat good Indian food, I have to cook it myself and at the same time me being newly married shy Indian girl thought my husband will also love it if I cook good food for him like they say in India (Pati ke dil ka raasta peyt se hokar jaata hai).Hahaha.. I thought lets give it a try and that’s how my interest kept developing in cooking different dishes and I believe now is the time to share all my tips, tricks, recipes with you guys.
